As part of CareRight’s broader rollout of Online Observations and Charts, digital Fluid Balance Charting is now available — giving nurses a simpler, safer way to record and review intake and output.
What’s Changing for Nurses
No more paper charts: Nurses can now record fluid input and output directly in CareRight using an assessment — the same method used for other observations.
Automatic daily totals: CareRight calculates 24-hour intake and output totals automatically, eliminating the need to manually add figures during or after shifts.
Supports late entries: Fluid entries can be backdated to the correct time, ensuring chart accuracy even when entries are made retrospectively.
Part of a Larger Transformation
This update is a key component of CareRight’s new Online Charts functionality, which is reshaping how observation and clinical charting are managed across the platform. Key features include:
Clinical alerts and risk escalation: The system can trigger alerts when fluid balance or vital sign results fall outside safe parameters, helping clinicians quickly identify when action is needed.
Integrated workflows: Escalations are automatically routed into care team workflows, allowing nurses to initiate clinical reviews or follow-up tasks directly from the chart.
Embedded safety actions: Built-in prompts and reminders support timely clinical decisions and integrate safety actions into routine care delivery.
CareRight’s Online Charts go beyond documentation — they actively help teams monitor risk, respond early, and deliver safer, more coordinated care.
Stay tuned — a major release for CareRight Online Charts is dropping soon.
